Production Management involves managing the resources required to produce goods and services. This module with focus on the decisions involved in the planning and control of a manufacturing operation.


Indicative Syllabus

Basics of Production Management: Definition. Evolution of today's production environment. Developing a business strategy

The Product Design Process: Product screening. Design for Manufacture. Product Life Cycle Break-even analysis.

Layout Planning: Different types of layout. Designing layouts.

Forecasting and Demand Planning: Principles of forecasting. Types of forecasting methods. Identifying trends.

Inventory Management Policies: Different types of inventory. ABC classification. Determining order quantity. Safety stocks.

Scheduling: Product structure. Bill of Materials. MRP11.
