Description

Description and measurement of ‘light industrial’ and ‘small commercial’ building work  -  traditional strip, raft and piled foundations; superstructures of varying construction types  -   concrete, concrete block, steel, timber (unframed and framed); roofing  -   pitched, flat, parapet; cladding systems; scheduling and measurement of finishes, completions and fittings

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Describe and measure light industrial and small commercial building work

2.

Consider raft and piled foundations when measuring substructures                                              

3.

Describe and measure superstructures of varying construction types - concrete, concrete block, steel, timber - unframed and framed; in-situ concrete, precast concrete, steel, timber, masonry; concrete stairs              

4.

Describe and measure roofing - pitched, flat, parapet                                                                   

5.

Include for varying cladding systems when measuring completions and finishings for inclusion in Bill of Quantities                                                                                                                              

6.

Schedule and measure finishes, completions and fittings
