Description

Quality Management Systems is intended for anyone working in any manufacturing or service sector where a structured approach to product/service quality and customer satisfaction is important. It is ideally suited for those who have some experience of worklife at any level and who now wish to develop a deeper understanding of the standards and approaches that facilitate and maintain quality at process and organisational level. The primary emphasis of the course is on the the ISO9000 family of Quality Management System standards but it also looks at equivalent standards in the automotive, pharmaceutical, medical device and food sectors. Related systems such as Environmental and Health and Safety get a mention in terms of similarity and opportunities for integration.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

Interpret the requirements of the various standards in the ISO9000 family of quality management system standards.

2.

Apply the process approach to any activity.

3.

Promote the eight quality management principles throughout the organisation.

4.

Facilitate an organisation's application for or retention of accreditation.

5.

Plan and conduct audits.

6.

Indentify opportunities for an integrated approach to various management system standards.

    Quality at it's broadest levels from attribute to profession to culture/philosophy.
  2. ISO9000 Family of standards.
    Overview of ISO standards development process in general and ISO9000 series in particular.
    The importance of the ISO9000 series for any organisation and for product certification [CE marking]
    ISO9004 and ISO9011.
    In-depth examination of ISO9000 & ISO9001
  3. The eight quality management principles.
    Their importance in promoting and sustaining a quality culture.
  4. The Process Approach.
    In-deph exploration of the process approach and mandatory documented functions.
  5. Documentation.
    Product/Service/Process documentation.
    Quality Manual and exclusions.
    Six Core Functions documentation.
  6. The acceditation process.
  7. Auditing.
    The purpose and benefits of auditing.
    Essential traits of auditors.
    ISO19011.
    Planning conducting and closing out an audit.
  8. Review of sector specific quality management system standards and regulatory requirements.
    Medical Device, Automotive, Pharmaceutical.
  9. Review of other managment system standards such as Environment and Health & Safety.
  10. Managment system integration.
    Alignment vs integration.
