Description

 

This  module further prepares students with core skills in digital creation.   The students will develop a body of work  in photography.  Students will be given specific assignments which will develop their skills and push them to create imaginative responses.  The students will be introduced to a variety of practitioners' work and processes to develop their critical appreciation and awareness of current digital practice. The module will encourage the student to integrate photography and online presence into their studio practice, focusing on research, ideation, documentation and presentation. 

 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Understand the core functions of a digital camera, exposure, aperture and shutter speed.

2.

Be able to identify the problems a particular photograph presents and and implement the solution. 

3.

Be able to document their studio work using photography and Aperture on the Mac.

4.

Be able to colour correct, layer and edit photographs using Photoshop.

5.

Be able to promote and share their content online appropriately.

Indicative Syllabus

What are the parameters involved in creating a successful photograph?

Looking at photographs, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, understanding the range of options available to the photographer as they shoot.

Image correction in Aperture, managing your Aperture library

Introductory to intermediate usage of Photoshop, covering image correction and collage techniques

Photography resources online, including portfolio sites.
