PERF06064 2013 Acting 2 Actors Work on Text
This module is designed to introduce learners to text-based acting and to provide them with the experience of working with a play text from page to stage from the actor's point of view. Learners will be introduced to methods and techniques that an actor needs to work on play texts to create characters and develop professional work and rehearsal practice skills.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
apply appropriate professional conduct of a theatre practitioner to build a working ensemble
demonstrate the ability to analyse text as a means of defining character, to identify themes and narrative progression
research appropriately in specified areas of study, and apply the research to character work as appropriate
develop basic characterisation techniques
develop basic skills in the areas of voice and movement
develop methods and vocabulary for reflection and evaluation of own work.

Practical exploration of play texts: scene work from page to stage

•· Close textual examination to develop a method of analysis capable of yielding clues to character, relationships and actions.
•· Staging and rehearsing the scenes and performing them to an audience.
