Section A: The Project Management section of this module addresses the following Project Management Institute Knowledge Areas: Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Risk, and Procurement.

Section B: The Quality section introduces the student to the essentials of quality including problem solving tools and techniques aimed at product and process improvement.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Discuss the environment, characteristics, objectives, and life-cycle phases of an engineering project.

2.

Apply non-numeric, profitability, and scoring models in project selection.

3.

Apply a variety of project planning tools and techniques.

4.

Manage a project in accordance with internationally-recognised principles and practices.

5.

Describe the approaches and philosophies of quality management.

6.

Perform simple probability calculations.

7.

Develop plots and analyse variable control charts/attribute control charts.

8.

Use simple quality tools and techniques.

Seven Quality Tools

Quality Management

Total quality management. Quality gurus. Quality standards. Lean and six sigma.
