Description

This module provides the student with the opportunity to explore and evaluate contemporary management issues facing managers in the work environment.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Display knowledge of organisational culture and the business environment and identify how they can be constraints for effective management practice.

2.

Explore the  role of employee engagement  in the work environment.

3.

Explore the increasing diversity of the workforce and demonstrate strategies and techniques for managing diversity.

4.

Describe the key sources of occupational stress and assess strategies for managing it.

5.

Assess the impact of technology on organisational communication.

Teaching and Learning Strategies

The student will engage with the content of the module through lectures, case studies, problem based learning and use of interactive multi-media tools.

Module Assessment Strategies

A combination of in class exercises, multiple choice tests, written research reports, oral presentations and end of semester examination will be used as appropriate for assessment purposes.
