This module aims to develop a critical understanding of the core concepts and practices of modern management. It introduces the learner to the core competencies and skills required to be an effective manager.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;


Understand the role and importance of management within business.


Recognise the importance of the evolution of management theories and their impact on modern management practices.


Identify the core skills and competencies required to be an effective manager.


Explain the functional areas of management.
