MECT08001 2009 Project Mechatronics
Successful projects will demonstrate competence in reserch, design, construction and reporting. Topics can include one or more of the following: measurement, automation, networking and energy management.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Plan a project
Research and design project
Assess safety implications of the project
Select sensors, actuators and motors
Present progress reports
Write a formal project report
Do an interim presentation on the progress of the project
Do an interview about the final status of the project
Do a presentation on the final status of the project
Module Assessment Strategies
Continuous assessment: Safety statement, research, project planning, interim reports,
Assessment of any physical aspects of the project.
Automated Production: PLC based sorting, Robotic sorting, Vision systems: image analysis and measurement.
Process Control: Measurement and control of temperature/flow/pressure/torque/speed/pH/voltage/current. Control strategies: Proportional, proportional + Integral, Proportional + Integral + Derivative. SCADA systems, graphical programming.
Energy Management stategies.
Bus Systems such as Asi, Devicenet, Canbus, Profibus.
