Description

This module will introduce the student into the concept of industrial data communication and industrial networks.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Understand the function of a bus protocol.

2.

Understand and perform the addressing configuration of an ASI Bus.

3.

Perform the ID and IO check of an ASI Bus.

4.

Explain alternating pulse modulation

5.

Explain the functionality of Can bus and Device net.

6.

Display an understanding of how the microprocessor computes data.

7.

use LabVIEW ADC, DAC, FieldPoint& IEEE-488 devices and programming

8.

Use LabVIEW client/server software

Module Assessment Strategies

The student will be able to build and design problem digital logic.

Students will be assessed on a combination of events.  

Final written exam, continuous assessment and lab work.
