LANG06078 2016 French Post Leaving Cert Level 1 Semester 1
This module aims to continue to reinforce the student's previous knowledge of the target language. It will develop the necessary skills to speak, write, understand and communicate effectively in both everyday and business situations relevant to the course. The subject also provides students with a more extensive knowledge of the culture and civilization of the target language
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
The student will perform confidently at Level A2 within the Common European Framework for Language Learning (Council of Europe Guidelines)
understand and modify sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment)
to communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters
describe using a full range of vocabulary appropriate to the Level aspects of his/her background; immediate environment; the world of work; matters of immediate need
demonstrate awareness of grammatical accuracy appropriate to the Level
be able to complete a cultural task in the target language

Indicative Syllabus
Listening:
can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance, e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment. Can catch the point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements
Reading:
can read short, simple texts, can find specific predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, menus and timetables, can understand short simple personal letters/emails.
Spoken Interaction:
can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities, can handle short social exchanges.
Spoken Production:
can use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms educational background and present or most recent job.
Writing:
can write short simple notes and messages relating to matters in areas of immediate needs, can write a simple formal email
