Description

This module aims to continue on from Semester 1 to further develop the necessary skills to speak, write, understand and communicate effectively in everyday and business situations relevant to the course. The subject also provides the students with a more extensive knowledge of the culture and civilisation of the target language.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Perform confidently at Level B1 within the Common European Framework for Language Learning (Council of Europe Guidelines).

2.

Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, college, leisure, etc.

 

3.

 More confidently produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.

4.

Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.

5.

Describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

6.

Present certain aspect of the culture and society of the Spanish speaking world.

Listening: Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters at work, college, leisure, etc. Can understand more cofidently the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest. Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters encountered at work, college, leisure, etc

Reading: Can understand texts which consist of everyday or job-related language. Can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in letters.

Spoken Interaction: Can interact  with guidance with native speakers. Can take a more active part in discussion in familiar contexts.

Spoken Production: Can connect phrases in a simple way  in order to describe experiences, dreams, hopes and ambitions. Can present a previously prepared topic. Can more confidently give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Writing: Can more confidently write simple connected text on familiar topics. Can write personal letters/emails describing experiences and impressions.
