LANG06070 2016 Spanish Post-Leaving Certificate Level 2 Semester 1
This module aims to reinforce the student's previous knowledge of the target language as taken in Year 1. It will further develop the necessary skills to speak, write, understand and communicate effectively in everyday and business situations relevant to the course. The subject also provides the students with a more extensive knowledge of the culture and civilisation of the target language.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Progress towards Level B1 within the Common European Framework for Language Learning (Council of Europe Guidelines).
Understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, college, leisure, etc.
Deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.
Produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest.
Describe experiences or events, dreams, hopes & ambitions.
Briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
Present certain aspect of the culture of the Spanish speaking world.

Indicative Syllabus
Listening: Can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, college, leisure, etc. Can understand the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal or professional interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear.
Reading: Can understand texts which consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language. Can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters.
Spoken Interaction: Can deal with many situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. Can enter into unprepared conversation on topics which are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life.
Writing: Can write simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest. Can write personal letters describing experiences and impressions.
