Description

This module aims to continue from skills gained in Semester 1 to further develop the necessary skills to speak, write, understand and communicate effectively in everyday and business situations relevant to the course. The subject also provides the students with a more extensive knowledge of the culture and civilisation of the target language.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

The student will perform confidently at Level A2 -  B1 within the Common European Framework for Language Learning (Council of Europe Guidelines)

2.

understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters

3.

can more confidently produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest

4.

can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken

5.

can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans

Can understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in letters

Spoken Interaction:

Can interact  with guidance with native speakers. Can take a more active part in discussion in familiar contexts

Spoken Production:

Can connect phrases in a simple way  in order to describe experiences, dreams, hopes and ambitions.

Can more confidently give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans

Writing:

Can more confidently write simple connected text on familiar topics. 

Can write personal letters/emails describing experiences and impressions
