Description

This module aims to introduce the student to the basic principles underpinning molecular biology with relevance to Forensic Science and also explores practical applications in molecular biology.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

1.

Explain basic principles in Gene Cloning and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technologies.

2.

Perform and interpret selected practical applications of Gene Cloning and PCR.

3.

Analyse, evaluate and draw conclusions from data obtained in the laboratory and/or data presented in problem solving exercises.

4.

Define the principal applications of Gene Cloning and PCR technologies.

5.

Communicate scientific data in an appropriate format.
