ENVR08021 2013 Advanced Geographic Information Systems
This module provides an in-depth study of data analysis and spatial data management appropriate to academic requirements. Data mamagement processes are developed in order to provide the student with competence in a range of DBMS and GIS tasks, including use of 'On-Line' GIS resources.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Organise diverse spatial and temporal datasets into layers for surface analysis and distance measurement.
Build geodatabases that include relationship classes, subtypes, attribute domains, topology, geometric networks, and feature-linked annotation.
Construct cluster, proximity, orientation cartographic displays to determine spatial relationships within an environmental context.
Represent and explore data and detect trends and directional influences, build interpolation models using ordinary and indicator kriging, compare the results of these models, and create maps using the output surfaces.
Work with GIS functions to assign symbology, manage labels and produce customised map documents.
Use of ArcGIS - 'On-Line' for web based mapping by integrating with Cloud platform technologies.

Tasks using GIS applications to include advanced techniques for capture, store, query, analyse, display, and output.
Editing replicated data from an enterprise geodatabase over the web using the ArcGIS.com map viewer.
