EDUC06015 2016 Practice Placement (2nd Year)
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Explain the sensitive care and routines of babies and toddlers, including hygienic practices, in the setting in relation to for example food and nappy changing, undertaken on placement with specific reference to the pre-school regulations and setting policies.
Plan, implement, assess and evaluate structured activities in and outdoors making links to Aistear (including observations and conversations), Siolta, Pre School Regulations, the Literacy and Numeracy Strategy, any other relevant documentation and setting policies.
Facilitate opportunities for free play in and outdoors making links to Aistear (including observations and conversations), Siolta, Pre School Regulations, the Literacy and Numeracy Strategy, any other relevant documentation and setting policies.
Record and report on children’s learning and development making links to Aistear, Siolta, any other relevant documentation and setting policies.
Indicate the skills (for example creative, interpersonal, reflective, professional), qualities (for example inclusive, ethical practices) and competencies they have used and developed over the course of this placement when working with different stakeholders and how these suggest suitability for this career path.
Identify how learning of concepts and theories from all programme modules completed to date has been integrated and has impacted on their practices on placement.

Learning occurs through experiences whilst on placement.
Module Assessment Strategies
The assessment strategy comprises an assessment by the visiting tutor, a portfolio, a report from the supervisor and has a review component.
All learning objectives must be passed.
Repeat Assessments
All elements must be passed and if any are not passed they must be repeated. Only one attempt is allowed.
