Module Assessment Strategies

The nuturing of student-centred learning and assessement is reflected in the assessment strategy of this Product Design module.  Predominately formative, the continuous assessment of design project work involves developmental feedback that addresses various evidence-based implications for design practice. The assessment targets analytical, technical, R&D, transferable, social and applied design skills in general.

The integration of written, oral and visual presentations as assessment deliverables and activities are fundamental to this strategy.

Where possible, there is an emphasis put on interactions with external bodies and clients in both the negotiation and creation of meaningful student-centered assessment.

Indicative Syllabus

The students undertake a professional design project (products, systems, services and interactions). The design content concentrates on:

Design Research, Concept Generation, Development, Design Innovation, Detailed Design, CAD, Prototyping, Communication & Design Presentation.
