The module will build on the application of design communication skills using appropriate media including personal skills involving discussion, negotiation, and team-working. Develop visual (drawing, modelling and computer-aided), verbal and written communication methods and evaluate appropriate application. Develop lighting and material skills in CAD programmes and introduce image editing software.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;


Debate design ideas within visual, verbal and written presentations, utilising appropriate language, terminology and representational graphics


Integrate the context, use and cross-referencing of design information in a set of complex design drawings


Construct and utilise scale models, using appropriate materials, as a design development tool from concept to presentation stage aligned with studio design projects


Generate and modify detailed, 3-Dimensional geometry within a CAD programme


Create and modify materials and maps to effectively convey design ideas within a computer graphics programme


Create and modify lights and lighting systems to effectively convey light and shadow solutions within a CAD programme
