DSGN06087 2013 CAD for Design 1 Introduction
To provide students with a foundation in 2D CAD drafting skills and an understanding of mechanical drawing standards.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
To appreciate the advantages that CAD offers designers and how to prepare 2D CAD layouts
To demonstrate a basic overall knowledge of 2D CAD skills
To produce working drawings, utilise drawing instruments, scaling and measurement techniques and planes of reference

Assessment of class exercises and CAD elements of Design 1 Projectwork
Introduction to technical drawing : sheet sizes, layout, Title blocks, line thicknesses, drawing and measuring apparatus
Introduction 2D CAD drawing Tools - use of line, polyline, construction line, circle, arc, rectangle, ellipse, hatching, single and multiline text and the basic use of blocks.
Layout and dimensioning of simple geometric forms.
Layout and dimensioning of more complicated solid geometric forms.
