DSGN06067 2012 CAD for Design 4 (Assembly)
This module will cover 3D product CAD modelling. The module will encompass product design CAD modelling whereby students will be able to create product components and product sub-assemblies and assemblies.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Create 3D product components using a solid modelling package.
Produce 3D product assemblies and build component relationships.
Creating simple exploded views of product assemblies.
Make changes, edit and build parts in the assembly environment.
Module Assessment Strategies
The subject will be evaluated by a combination of tutorials, short assignments and projects.
The student will receive instruction in a specific area in the form of a tutorial. This will be followed by shorts assignments and design projects where the student applies the knowledge gained. The semester will conclude whereby the students will present a portifolio of assignments and project work.
Single Part Products: Drawing Profiles, Constructing features, families of parts,
Product Assemblies: Working with assemblies, Placing parts in assemblies, Assembly relationships.
