This module will build on the practical experience in the application of graphic design software to projects that students gained in Digital media for Design 1. Student will learn to use more advanced features of Adobe Photoshop and apply same to more complex design projects. Students will also learn to use Microsoft powerpoint and apply same to design projects and presentations. An introduction to multimedia will include the use of sound editing software and a basic video editing tool. 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;


Demonstrate a basic proficiency with digital media as applied to project work and presentations.


Record/Edit/Sample existing sounds and mix same to make a new sound.:-:-#160::::


Record/Edit/Sample existing video clip and mix same to make a new video clip.


Demonstrate basic proficiency with Microsoft Powerpoint as applied to an interactive presentation.

Module Assessment Strategies

Assessment is continuous and is undertaken at the conclusion of each block or project. Projects are assessed by the assignment of marks to various project deliverables. The percentages assignened to deliverables may vary between projects.

Project deliverables may include Research, Conceptual development of ideas, Design Development/methodology, Prototypeing, final design implamentation. A percentage mark is assigned for each deliverable, adding to a total a total of 100%. Each project is assigned a percentage of the overall module mark dependendent on project lenght.

Indicative Syllabus


Creation of custom made imagery that will be incorporated into students project work.Apply Adobe Photoshop to the production of both printed and digital presentation.  Understand Masks,Adjustment layers, advansed selection methods  and advansed tool functionality.


Starting PowerPoint, Creating a new blank Presentation, Adding New Slides, Using Spell Check, Saving a Presentation, Previewing Your Presentation on the Screen, Opening an Existing File, Inserting Clip Art, Moving and Resizing Objects, Using Graphic Images, Moving, Copying, and Deleting Slides, Adding Transitions, Adding Animations, Applying a Template.


Recording auio using a mic, sampling audio using exsisting sound files, mixing audio tracks, applying effects, saving adio in various formats. Incorporating audio into project work.


Recording video using a camera, sampling video using exsisting video clips, mixing video clips, applying effects, applying transitions, saving video in various formats .Incorporating video into project work.
