Students shall carry out research on best practice for the design management and fabrication of low energy fabrics for domestic construction. To appreciate the requirements for Nearly Zero Energy Buildings, students will have an understanding of the management of the air tight layer, incorporate thermal bridge free design techniques and ensure continuity of Insulation for the delivery of high performance buildings.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Demonstrate an understanding for the design and construction of low energy fabrics.
Demonstrate an ability to effectively work in groups in construction related practical projects.
Demonstrate the ability using software, to design, quantify and create schedules for practical projects.
Apply statutory requirements for the management of tools plant and equipment during the design and fabrication phase of low energy model fabrics.
Describe the key requirements for a Health & Safety Management System for that of a wood working/ machining workshop environment.
.Apply sound management techniques for minimising thermal bridges, ensuring continuity of insulation and maintaining the integrity of the airtightness layer.
Select materials appropriately for the successful management of condensation, water and water vapour.
Recognise the importance for the management of an integrated approach for the successful delivery of Nearly Zero Energy Buildings
