CONS07053 2019 BIM MEP
This module will provide students with the knowledge and skills to create primary Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) layouts using industry-standard BIM authoring tools. The module will provide students with the ability to work collaboratively in a BIM environment.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Combine BIM Architectural Models within Engineering System Specific Templates.
Create spaces and zones within a model and calculate the required heating and cooling loads.
Design and construct basic MEP systems using industry-standard BIM authoring tools.
Analyse and size all systems created to test for continuity using system inspector tools.
Create and edit tags & text for use on installed services.
Work collaboratively on a shared BIM project.
Teaching and Learning Strategies
This module will be delivered using blended learning techniques. This will include lectures, practical demonstrations and tutorial assistance. Students will be required to undertake assignments during classes and will be required to undertake additional project work in private study time. Moodle will be used to upload educational material (i.e. presentations and recordings of lectures plus supplementary reading material).
Module Assessment Strategies
This module is 100% Continuous Assessment.
Repeat Continuous Assessment.
General: Linking models View templates, ceiling plans, project setup, schedules and tags, detailing, spaces, zones and energy analysis.
