On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;

Explain the functions, principles and environmental constraints of services in buildings.

2.

Explain the theory of the application of services to a building.

3.

Apply the building regulations, relevant to building services, to a construction project

4.

Identify the importance and practical application of science to building services

5.

Discuss the importance of green technologies to building services

Module Assessment Strategies

LEARNING MODES:

  • The course will be delivered via on-line lectures. On completion of a series of lectures,  the learner will be required to complete on-line tests, which will examine their knowledge on the subject matter.
  • The learners will also be assigned practical exercises to be completed on an individual basis. This will include a major case study of a building.

 ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES:

 Continuous Assessment On-Line

  • The learner will be required to complete a test after a series of on-line lectures.

Continuous Assessment In-House

  • The learner will be required to complete a test after a series of in-house lectures.

Practical Assignments/Projects

  • The learner will be required to carry out an appraisal of a selected building services and prepare a written and graphic report.

Terminal Written Examination In-House

  • The learner will be required to sit a final end of module examination covering all aspects of the module.
