ARCH08030 2013 PROJECT
The 4th year honours project is designed to enable students to carry out a major, independent research project, leading to the production of a circa 10,000 word thesis. This project can be desk based, involve field work, lab work and/or experimental archaeology.
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to;
Demonstrate individual knowledge and/or practical skills acquired during the course in the design, execution and conclusions of their research.
Analyse and evaluate data produced in the study.
Integrate results of the project into a broader evaluation of the research topic.
Module Assessment Strategies
The structure of the project assessment will depend on whether they are desk, field or lab based with detailed marking schemes developed for each. The thesis will be marked by the supervisor and a second internal examiner in addition to an external examiner. A Viva may or may not be required.
The details will vary considerably between students as they will be encouraged to design unique research projects.
